Author: Carnival of poetry

Hello Guys Carnival of Poetry is a monthly event organised in order to establish a bonding among the Migrant poets, the Singaporean poets and the poetry enthusiasts. This event aims to celebrate the universality of literature, specifically poetry, as a medium to communicate, to unite and to celebrate humanity. The Carnival of Poetry invites poets, writers and literature enthusiasts to submit their poems, tiny tales and critques for recitation, reading and discussion on a monthly basis. As a carnival is meant to celebrate human emotions, social and cultural events, and to provide an occassion of social assimilation, each monthly session of Carnival of Poetry will revolve around a pre-announced theme and will showcase selected poems and critiques. Carnival of Poetry intends to provide every migrant poet a podium to read their works and to discuss their views about the themes and poetry in front of the audience. This would help them to learn the poetry delivering and discussion skills and to conquer their stage frights for future events. For the other poets, either Singaporean or whoever does not belong to the Migrant poet community, doors of Carnival of Poetry are equally open to them, because we believe that poetry has no barrier, border, and subgroup. Poetry is the language of human soul that would create bridges between humans coming from different shores of different seas. Thus, Carnival of Poetry is more than a ‘migrant poet’-special event. It is intended to be carnival of ideas, emotions, cultures and the humanity united by the bonding of poetry. Thanks to our permanent shelter Sing Lit Station for giving us the place and the scope to organise this event.
